Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with iconic London landmarks to illuminate the city in celebration of Eid. From the majestic London Eye to the historic Guildhall and the renowned Natural History Museum, each light-up has been a testament to the spirit of generosity, gratitude, and unity that defines Eid.

These illuminations are more than just visual spectacles; they symbolise recognition and inclusion. They acknowledge the contributions of Muslim communities to the UK’s civic, cultural, and charitable spheres. By lighting up these landmarks, we send a powerful message: that our celebrations are an integral part of the city’s diverse tapestry.

This initiative builds upon my three-year tenure as an advisor for the Mayor of London’s Eid in the Square event, where I worked to ensure that public celebrations authentically represent the Muslim community’s rich traditions and contributions.

Witnessing families gather, children marvel at the lights, and communities come together in shared celebration underscores the profound impact of visibility and representation. These moments affirm that our narratives are not only acknowledged but also celebrated within the broader societal context.

As we continue this tradition, I am reminded of the profound impact that such gestures can have. They foster understanding, bridge communities and celebrate the rich diversity that makes London truly special.
